On 17th April 2026 the Local Council on Public Safety (LCPS) meeting was held in the Municipality of Shkodra, where, among other things, the results of the Local Safety Measurement System (LSMS) were presented and an inter-institutional discussion on public safety was encouraged. Representatives from various local institutions, including the police, social services and civil society organizations, participated in the meeting.
During the presentation, citizens’ perceptions of safety and the main issues in the community were highlighted. Police representatives emphasized that some phenomena, such as thefts and criminal activity, are decreasing according to official data, while the discussions highlighted the importance of taking citizens’ perceptions into account.
In conclusion, the need to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and the regular functioning of the LCPS was emphasized, as well as continuing the analysis of the findings to improve community safety.
The development of the LSMS survey was carried out in the framework of the SCPA Program Grants Scheme and it was implemented by the organization Woman to Woman in the Shkodra region.
