Peqin Municipality holds the first meeting of its Local Council for Public Safety

Strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, addressing community concerns, and implementing measures for a safer environment for children were the focus of the first meeting of the Local Council for Public Safety (LCPS), held on 25September 2026, in Peqin, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of the Interior and Head of the National Public Safety Council, Ms. Anisa Ruseti, the SCPA Program Management Team Leader Mr Ansi Shundi, and representatives from local institutions and other stakeholders involved in public safety.

During the meeting, Ms. Ruseti emphasized the importance of timely identification of issues and taking concrete actions to prevent incidents that could pose a risk to the community. She also announced that the Ministry of the Interior is currently drafting the new Public Safety Strategy, which will outline future directions and priorities in this field.

In this context, participants underscored the need for continuous follow-up on issues identified at the local level through more regular and formalized inter-institutional cooperation. A significant part of the discussions focused on the School Safety Package for the 2026–2027 academic year, emphasizing the strengthening of preventive measures and institutional coordination to identify and timely address issues related to child safety and protection.

Participants also discussed the need for a more coordinated approach to local safety priorities, ensuring that citizens’ concerns are identified, addressed, and followed up on through clearly defined institutional responsibilities.

The meeting in Peqin marked a step toward more structured cooperation among local stakeholders, aiming to bring public safety mechanisms closer to the community and enable a more coordinated response to identified issues.
