With the initiative of the Ministry of Interior and with the support of the Swedish Programme: ‘Strengthening Community Policing in Albania’ (SCPA), a special awareness event was organised on 5 December 2025 in the framework of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
The event brought together representatives from Albanian law enforcement agencies such as the Ministry of Interior (General Directorate of Development for Migration and Asylum), Albanian State Police (Public Safety Department and Directorate of Cyber Crimes Investigation), CVE, Tirana Municipality and other public institutions, civil society organizations (Woman to Woman’ Organisation as SCPA Programme grantee), and international organizations (UN Women, UNDP, UNCHR, OSCE, IOM and Delegation of EU to Albania) united in their commitment to prevent and eliminate digital violence against all women and girls.
Key discussions focused on strengthening interinstitutional cooperation to identify, prevent, and respond to online violence; Addressing online abuse, cyberstalking, and other digital threats targeting women and girls; Enhancing legal protections and improving the new Criminal Code to better address online bullying, stalking, and psychological violence; The responsibility of technology companies to create safer online environments.
The Minister of Interior emphasized the fact that such common battle may be won through awareness, education, respect and the language we choose to use in the digital space.
