As part of the “Road Safety Partnership with Youth” project—funded under a grant scheme—the Road Safety Board (KRS) conducted five training and awareness-raising sessions during October 2026 for students from the “Sadik Stavileci” high school in Tirana.
The activities aimed to enhance young people’s knowledge of road safety, help them identify dangerous behaviors, and foster a sense of individual responsibility regarding compliance with traffic rules.
The training sessions focused on the youth’s perceptions of road safety, the causes and consequences of accidents, and the importance of vehicle safety systems. They also addressed the identification and prevention of key risk factors—such as speeding (a leading cause of accidents), mobile phone use while driving, alcohol consumption, driver distraction, and failure to follow traffic regulations, among other issues.
Special emphasis was placed on the use of seatbelts and protective helmets, given that, in Albania, more than 19% of road fatalities involve passengers. Through interactive discussions and practical demonstrations using a 360° rollover simulator… Students experienced the effects of a vehicle rollover under controlled conditions and realized the importance of seat belts.
The key message of the activity was: “Road safety is not a choice; it is a behavior. Road safety begins with the individual.”
