As part of the implementation of the project “Strengthening the Police Response to Domestic Violence”— under SCPA Grant Scheme and in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Protection and Inclusion of the Municipality of Tirana—the Institute for Strategic Development (ISD) held an information and awareness-raising session with community members on September 18, 2026, at the “Gonxhe Bojaxhi” Community Center in Tirana.
The activity focused on informing participants about the new provisions of Law No. 11/2026, the rights of women and girls facing domestic or gender-based violence, and the mechanisms and services available for their protection and support.
The discussion addressed, in practical terms, forms of protection and referral pathways for cases of violence, including access to legal aid, psychological and social support, health services, emergency shelter, and other forms of assistance.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of timely reporting, knowledge of the responsible institutions, and the role the community can play in identifying and referring cases of violence. The session aimed to contribute to raising community awareness regarding rights, services, and existing protection mechanisms, fostering a more informed and responsible approach to preventing and addressing domestic and gender-based violence.
